I Design As a product designer, you have the task of ensuring that your product will function as intended. A part may need to have a certain appearance, strength, and dimensionality so it fits properly with other components. While you, as the designer, will have the most knowledge of how your product should function and what the part’s specification should be, difficulties inherent in the manufacturing process are often overlooked that cause some combination of schedule delay and increased costs. In addition, consideration of the manufacturing details during product and part design will almost always result in a substantive production cost savings. |
